The Boerne Champion boys soccer team opened district action Tuesday night at home and had a good start to league play after they recorded a 5-1 win over Wagner.

Champion remains undefeated this year and improved to 6-0 overall. They are 1-0 in 26-5A and visited Veterans Memorial Friday.

After that, Champion will host New Braunfels Canyon on Tuesday at Charger Field, 7:15 p.m.

Champion was leading 3-1 at halftime and added two more goals in the second half.

In Champion’s previous match vs. McCollum last Friday, the Chargers won 2-0 behind goals from Liam Willis and Jones Ferguson. Both goals were assisted by Brogan Dempsey.

Champion goalie Tanner Perkins and the rest of the defense didn’t allow a shot all night.
