Wednesday’s girls soccer match between Boerne Champion and Wagner was called with 9:45 left on the clock because of the weather.
And even though they didn’t play the full 80 minutes the outcome was never in doubt as the Lady Chargers rolled to an 8-0 win.
Champion scored 7 of its goals in the first half and played keep away in the second half before the match was called because of lightning strikes in the area.
Chargers coach Alyse Zingelmann said as long as they made it to halftime the match would count.
The Lady Chargers are 2-5 overall and start district at 1-0. They were home Friday to host Veterans Memorial.
Grace Johnson led the Chargers with 2 goals, while Carsyn Bradley, Mack Arendall, Ashlyn Plank, Hilary Delaloye, Sam Weltens and Ava Slay all knocked in 1 goal each.
NOTES: Wednesday’s match was scheduled to be played at Wagner Tuesday but the Thunderbirds’ grass field was too wet so the match was moved to Boerne. They play at Wagner in the second round.
