The Geneva School of Boerne Rhetoric Science Team competed at the Burnet UIL Invitational on Jan. 13 and placed second overall as a team.
Senior Will Muck placed second overall, senior Ella Sorrells placed fourth overall and senior Alex Havranek placed eighth overall. They also notched all three top spots in chemistry: Muck, first place, Sorrells second, and Havranek tied for third.
Sophomores Faith Lorenz and Megan Luffy placed 14th and 19th overall respectively.
This science competition consisted of four exams in one. The sections cover biology, chemistry and physics; the test was constructed by college professors at The University of Texas at Austin. The exam included 20 questions from each subject, and contestants had up to two hours to complete it. Students placed in biology, chemistry or physics, a combination of any and top overall.
This was the first competition for Geneva to compete as a team and its second competition of the year. Upcoming competitions include competitions at the Boerne High School Invitational, Kerrville Lady of the Hills, Liberty Hills and the state contest in April.
