Eight men from out of town charged in a sting operation with solicitation of a prostitute remained behind bars early Friday, police said.
The case began Thursday when the Boerne Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety conducted a joint operation in search of child predators and subjects soliciting prostitutes, according to a press release.
“These arrests are the result of more than a month of planning with Texas DPS,” Boerne Police Chief Steve Perez said in a prepared statement. “Thanks to our strong collaborative effort, we are able to identify and get these subjects off the streets.”
The arrests came in the wake of a daylong operation.
All of the suspects are charged with solicitation of a prostitution (adults), a state jail felony, according to the release.
Under Texas law, state jail felony offenses — a category created in 1993 — are usually low-level drug or property crimes and can include incarceration of six months to two years.
Two of the men also saw misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession, and one of the detained is a registered sex offender, investigators said.
Perez said the men hailed from various locations, including Pleasanton, Poteet, Canyon Lake and five from San Antonio.
As of press time, bond amounts were not available. Police identified the men as:
- Antonio Ramiro, 30, also charged with posses sion of marijuana
- Willie Wallace, 48, also charged with possession of marijuana
- Victor Miguel Acosta Garcia, 44
- Mark Camero, 30
- Tobe Lee Whitley, 44, identified as a registered sex offender
- Marco Garcia Cisneros, 51.
- David Rodriguez, 25
- Joseph Jimenez, 20
