Boerne girls win last two games by 123 points

After a loss to Fredericksburg on Jan. 12, the Lady Greyhounds have responded by winning its next two games by a combined 123 points.

BHS hosted Davenport last Wednesday and won by 56 points and then hit the road to face Bandera Friday and won by 67 points.

The Lady Hounds are 6-2 in district and 25-4 overall.

BHS was off Tuesday and returns to action Friday by hosting Wimberley.

Boerne had a big lead early and was up 24-2 in the first quarter. It was more of the same in the second after they took the period, 26-6, for the 50-8 halftime lead.

The Lady Hounds won the third stanza, 27-7, and opened up a 77-15 lead. They closed it out by taking the fourth quarter, 5-2.

Abby Smith led the team with 21 points, Averi Aaron netted 19, Jenna Ruede scored 16 and Chloe Donnell chipped in with 11 in her second game back from injury as four players finished in double digits.

Addison Palluch netted 7, Mickena Randle had 4, while Savannah Salinas and Meredith McLeod both chipped in with 2 points.

Vs. Davenport 

What a difference a month makes in high school basketball.

When BHS played at Davenport Dec. 12, the Wolves defeated the Lady Hounds by seven points, 48-41, but in their rematch last Wednesday at Greyhound Gym, Boerne blew out the Wolves by 56 points, 75-19.

Lady Hounds coach Amy Ruede said they had an off night in December but played much better in the second district meeting.

Boerne was up by double digits at the end of the first quarter, 14-4, and never took its foot off the gas pedal. They outscored the Wolves in the second, 22-5, and opened up a 36-9 halftime lead.

BHS outscored Davenport in the third, 20-5, and in the fourth, 19-5.

Boerne shot 53 percent from the field and held Davenport to 19%.

Abby Smith had a solid night and finished with 24 points, Averi Aaron added 17, Jenna Ruede scored 14, Chloe Donnell and Mickena Randle both netted 6, Savannah Salinas and Meredith McLeod chipped in with 3 points apiece and Addison Palluch dropped in 2 points each.

Aaron grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.
