The Hill Country Council for the Arts is offering a series of six-hour mini workshops. The first of these classes will introduce participants to the fine art of drawing, watercolor and oil. Led by resident artists, and held at the newly renovated Wagen Haus classroom at The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, 102 City Park Road in Boerne, these workshops will advance your venture into the world of creating fine art.
Please bring a brown bag lunch. Iced tea and water will be provided. Class is limited to the first 10 applicants to allow for individual attention.
• Introduction to oil painting.
Professional artist Pauly Tamez and protege to Boerne’s favorite curmudgeon, Bill Zaner, will introduce you to the basic concepts and techniques of fine art painting, the tools and supplies needed and the terminology used in creating a landscape painting. Please bring an apron, or your painting togs, and join us for great start on your oil painting journey.

• Introduction to watercolor painting.
Maren Phillips will introduce participants to the wonderful, fluid art of watercolor. Class members will learn about basic watercolor supplies and the techniques and methods used by watercolorists. Expect a mini workshop filled with demonstrations, instruction and fun!

Yes, you really can draw. Led by professional artist and instructor Maren Phillips, participants will learn about basic drawing supplies, proportionality, and how to represent shadows, values and contrast using various pencils in the fine art of drawing.
