The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team won a pair of district games last week.
Geneva hit 70 points in both wins and didn’t give up many points in the process after they defeated Veritas Academy and Schertz John Paul II.
After those two wins, the Eagles are 7-0 in district and 22-3 overall. They are scheduled to play Hill Country Christian Friday in Austin.
Vs. John Paul II
Geneva was at John Paul II last Friday and defeated the Schertz school by 50 points, 74-24.
The Eagles scored early and often as 12 different players tallied points in the game.
Maegan Riebel paced the team with 25 points, Madeline Egbert added 11, Kyra Petty had 9, Suzie Nilsson 5, Bethany DeLuna, Sopris Oglesby and Grace Detterick all scored 4, Payton Boles and Lindsay Lee both scored 3, while Hailey Kirchner, Morgan Howard and Hartlee Menn all chipped in with 2.
Petty snagged 10 rebounds and had 5 assists, Riebel and Detterick had 6 boards each and Riebel came up with 7 steals.
Vs. Veritas
The Eagles defeated Veritas Academy at home last Wednesday in Boerne, 70-36.
Geneva had its best quarter of the night to open the game and outscored the Austin school in the first period, 25-12.
The Eagles tallied 19 in the second and third for a 63-27 lead after Veritas tallied 12 and 3 in those two quarters.
Veritas closed it out by winning the fourth period, 9-7.
Maegan Riebel led the team with 20 points, Kyra Petty was one point behind her with 19 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Hailey Kirchner tallied 8, Madeline Egbert and Suzie Nilsson both scored 4, Hartlee Menn, Bethany DeLuna, Lindsay Lee and Morgan Howard all netted 3, while Sopris Oglesby had 2.
Petty led the team in assists with 6, Riebel had 7 rebounds and 7 steals.
Riebel is averaging 21 points per game this year.
