Boerne High boys take district win streak to 43

The Boerne High boys closed out the first round of district play Friday night with a home win against Bandera.

Boerne beat up the Bulldogs, 58-34, to end the first round of 27-4A play at 6-0. BHS is 23-5 overall and was off Tuesday.

The Greyhounds begin the second round Friday at Wimberley and look to build on their district win streak, which stands at 43.

Before last Friday’s victory vs. the Bulldogs, Boerne picked up a road win at Davenport last Wednesday, 60-48.

Vs. Bandera

The Hounds were leading at the end of one quarter, 14-7, before both teams scored 13 in the second to give the Greyhounds a 27-20 halftime lead.

It was a low-scoring quarter in the third with Boerne taking it, 7-5, to open up a 34-25 advantage.

But the Hounds pulled away with a strong fourth quarter and outscored the Bulldogs, 24-9.

Casen Hoegemeyer heated up in the fourth and tallied 11 points in the period and finished with 23 points.

Hank Hendrix had 6 in the fourth quarter and tallied 13 in the game and finished with a double-double after he also hauled in 12 rebounds.

Sam Holland netted 8 points, Luke Fox added 6, Nic Hernandez had 5 and Hut Hendrix chipped in with 3.

Fox came up with 4 steals, while Holland and Hernandez both had 3 steals.

Vs. Davenport

The Hounds picked up a double-digit road win at Davenport last Wednesday, 60-48.

Boerne was steady and in double digits all four quarters. They had 14 in the first and second for a 28-18 halftime lead after the Wolves scored 10 and 8 in those two quarters.

Davenport’s best stanza came in the third with 17 points but Boerne had 13 and took a 41-35 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Hounds matched the 17 points that Davenport had in the third with 19 of their own in the fourth to put the game away.

Boerne’s defense held the Wolves to 7 points in the final period as BHS went on to post the 12-point win.

Casen Hoegemeyer led the Greyhounds with 19 points and 7 rebounds, Hank Hendrix scored in all four quarters and finished with 18 points also snagged 7 rebounds, while Sam Holland made it three BHS players in double digits with 11 points.

Noa Sanchez netted 6, Luke Fox hit four free throws for 4 points and Hut Hendrix chipped in with 2.

Hut Hendrix dished out 6 assists, while Hoegemeyer, Nic Hernandez and Hank Hendrix all came up with 2 steals.
