For the second time in as many years, Boerne has been named a “Best-In-Class Employer” in Gallagher’s U.S. Benefits Strategy and Benchmarking Survey.
For its 2023 survey, Gallagher identified the city as an organization that excels in optimizing employee and organizational well-being.
Human Resources Director Susan Finch and her team were recognized for their efforts at the Jan. 9 City Council meeting.
“This recognition places us in the top 1% of organizations in the nation,” City Manager Ben Thatcher said.
“From fostering engagement to reducing turnover, from physical health initiatives to financial security programs,” Thatcher said, “Susan and her team, along with our great executive leadership team, work together to support our employees with all these different programs so they feel valued and supported and have the ability to thrive in their everyday jobs.”
Boerne is one of just three organizations in the San Antonio area to be recognized as a Best-In-Class employer, reflecting the city’s ongoing goal of being “an employer of choice.”
Gallagher recognized the city for strategic investments in benefits, compensation, and employee communication to support the health, financial security, and career growth of its employees at a sustainable cost structure.
The city was assigned points based on its relative performance in: Planning horizons for the benefits and compensation strategies; extent of their well-being strategy; turnover rate for full-time equivalents completion of a workforce engagement survey; use of an HR technology strategy and its level of sophistication; difference in healthcare costs over the prior year; integration of DEI initiatives; extent of the financial well-being strategy; and use of a communication strategy.
