Castro-Doniger
March 20, 1943 – December 31, 2023
Margaret Rose Castro-Doniger, our beloved mother, passed into the arms of God on Sunday Dec. 31, 2023. She handled with grace and courage the disease of Alzheimer’s for two challenging years.
She was born to Frederick and Nora Schubert on March 20, 1943, and is one of eight children. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Martin Doniger. Upon her husband’s death she moved from Southern California to Texas to be close to her children and grandchildren.
Margaret had a strong devotion to her Catholic faith from the very beginning of her life. Early on she developed an admiring love for Mary, Jesus’ mother. Mary became Margaret’s inspiration on how to live life.
She expressed her affection in many ways, such as: attending Mass daily and praying the rosary; hosting prayer gatherings; Pro-life ministry; women’s prison ministry; singing in the church choir; and traveling to holy pilgrimage sites around the world.
For those of us who have been graced by her presence, may our remaining days be more blessed, more hopeful and more present for one another, until we join her with our loving Jesus.
She is survived by her two children, her son James Castro and daughter-in-law Tara (Engberg), and her daughter Theresa Rogers of Bergheim, Texas; and five grandchildren, John Paul, Roland, Ryan, Danielle, and Aaron; along with nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
The family is extremely grateful to Visiting Angels of Boerne, for their tender companionship while she was able to remain in her home; Country Living Senior Care of Boerne, for providing their 24/7 outstanding quality support; and to Embrace Hospice of Kerrville, Texas, for their compassionate services during her remaining months.
Rosary, followed by requiem Mass, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 31, 2024, at Sanctus Ranch, 2647 River Bluff Circle, Pipe Creek, Texas. Memorial services/ burial will be held Jan. 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church-Honey Creek, 25781 State Hwy. 46 West, Spring Branch, Texas.
