January 17 is the first day for candidates to file in several area races that will appear on the May 4 ballot.
Three council seats on Boerne City Council will be up for grabs – District 1, held by Ty Wolosin; District 3, by Quinten Scott; and District 5, by Joseph Macaluso.
All three men were re-elected in 2022 with no opposition. All are serving twoyear terms.
Three members of the Boerne Independent School District have decisions to make about filing for re-election.
Board President Carlin Friar, who serves in Place 1, is up for re-election. He is serving his third term on the board.
Place 2’s Joe Tidwell has been on the board since 2016, when he was elected to fill a board vacancy. He has since been re-elected, most recently in 2021.
Jessica Davila occupies the BISD Place 3 seat that is up for election. She won the seat in the spot in the 2021 board election. All three school board seats are three-year terms.
Fair Oaks Ranch Mayor Greg Maxton is one of two names Ranch residents are likely to see on the ballot. Maxton took 54% of the vote in 2021 to capture the mayor’s seat.
Place 1 Councilwoman Emily Stroup also prevailed in the 2021 election with 54% of the vote. Both spots are the May ballot as three-year terms.
Candidacy declaration begins Wednesday and runs through February 16. The last day to register to vote in the May 4 election is April 4.
Early voting begins Monday, April 22 and runs through Tuesday, April 30.
