Geneva girls use fast start to drop CC JP II

The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team nearly doubled up visiting Corpus Christi John Paul II Tuesday night when the Eagles hosted the Lady Centurions.

Geneva won the game 80-41 and had their second-best point total in a single game this season. They hit 100 on Nov. 11 for their best in one game this year.

The Lady Eagles improved to 19-3 overall and 4-0 in district. They hosted another Corpus Christi school Friday when they welcomed C.C. Incarnate Word. They are home Tuesday against Austin Veritas for their third straight game in Boerne.

Geneva jumped out to a 35-8 lead by the end of the first and even tough CC JP II played better in the second and tallied 15 points, the Eagles still outscored them 22-15 for the 57-23 halftime lead.

Geneva also won the third quarter, 16-13, and then closed it out by taking the final period, 7-5.

Maegan Riebel paced the team with 22 points, Kyra Petty scored 18 and Madeline Egbert tallied 13.

Suzie Nilsson netted 8, Lindsay Lee dropped in 5, Hartlee Menn had 3, Bethany DeLuna and Morgan Howard both chipped in with 3 and Grace Detterick and Hailey Kirchner hit for 2 each.

Petty recorded 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Riebel tallied 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals, while Menn, Petty and Lee all came up with 3 steals in the game.
