Pieper puts away Lady Chargers

The Boerne Champion girls basketball team had a rough night shooting the ball during last Friday’s district contest at Pieper.

Champion was held to its lowest offensive output of the season with 21 points against the Lady Warriors and dropped Friday’s contest, 54-21.

The Lady Chargers slip to 1-4 in 26-5A and 8-17 overall. They hosted Smithson Valley Tuesday and close out the first round of district Friday at Seguin.

Pieper wrestled away control early and was leading 20-5 at the end of the first quarter.

Champion played better in the second and had its best scoring quarter of the night and tied Pieper in the period, 9-9, to trail 29-14 at halftime.

Champion couldn’t make up any ground and the Lady Warriors won the second half, 25-7, to put the game away.

Adriana Barreiro and Addison Darter both tallied 5 points in the game for the Lady Chargers, Kayla Ramirez, Taylor Burk and Abby Sommer all netted 3, while Hailey Winn hit for 2.

Vs. Kerrville Tivy

Against Kerrville Tivy in their previous game that the Lady Antlers won, 57-40, Adriana Barreiro led the Chargers with 12 points, Hailey Winn scored 7, Bralyn Gault and Addison Darter both tallied 5, Kayla Ramirez had 4, Abby Sommer netted 3, while Ainsley Darter and Taylor Burk chipped in with 2 points apiece.

Addison Darter came up with 3 steals, Barreiro recorded 4 assists and 3 rebounds, while Barreiro also grabbed 3 rebounds.
