BHS boys pick up another district win for 39 in a row

The Boerne High boys basketball team continued league play Friday at Navarro and extended their district win streak to 39 straight after they defeated the Panthers, 70-41.

BHS improves to 19-5 overall and 2-0 in district. They hosted Canyon Lake Tuesday and visit Fredericksburg Friday.

The Greyhounds rode a strong second and third quarters to tame the Panthers on Friday. They scored 50 of their 70 points in those two periods.

After holding a 13-7 lead after one, Boerne exploded for 22 points in the second and won the quarter, 22-10, and then outscored the Panthers in the third, 28-11, for the 63-28 advantage as the game went to the final stanza.

Boerne dialed it back in the fourth and Navarro won the quarter, 13-7.

The Hounds had four finish in double figures and 10 players score in the game.

Nic Hernandez paced the team with 12 points, Sam Holland netted 11, while Luke Fox and Hank Hendrix both scored 10.

Hendrix made it a double- double after he also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Slade Salinas chipped in with 9 points, Casen Hoegemeyer added 6, Gavin Hankins and Will Traylor both tallied 4, while Noah Patton and Noa Sanchez hit for 2 points apiece.

Hoegemeyer dished out 4 assists, Traylor blocked 2 shots and Hernandez led the team in steals with 6, while Fox came up with 5 steals.
