Lady Hounds continue 27-4A action

After taking a break from district basketball, the Boerne High girls returned to league play Tuesday with a road trip to Wimberley.

The Boerne girls defeated the Lady Texans, 54-35, and are 2-1 in 27-4A. BHS is 21-3 overall and was home Friday to play Navarro. They’ll be at Canyon Lake Tuesday before having a showdown with Fredericksburg next Friday in a battle of state-ranked teams.

The Lady Greyhounds came out of the gate fast Tuesday and held a 19-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Wimberley won the second, 15-10, but was still trailing at halftime, 29-16.

In the third quarter, BHS hit for 19 points again and Wimberley dropped in 16 to give Boerne a 48-32 advantage at the end of the period.

It slowed down in the final stanza for both teams and Boerne doubled up the Texans, 6-3, to put the game away.

Only six players scored for the Lady Greyhounds after Averi Aaron led the team with 15, Abby Smith added 14, Meredith McCloud had 8, Addison Palluch finished with 7, while Savannah Salinas and Mickena Randle netted 5 apiece.

Aaron snagged 13 rebounds, Smith grabbed 9 boards, Salinas dished out 4 assists and Jenna Ruede recorded 3 assists, while Aaron came up with 3 steals and Palluch had 2 steals.
