The Champion boys basketball team won all three games it played at the Boerne ISD Holiday Tournament and then claimed another victory when the Chargers opened district play last Saturday.

Champion was at New Braunfels Canyon Saturday to begin 26-5A action and edged the Cougars, 45-41.

The Chargers improved to 18-3 overall and start district at 1-0. They closed out December without a loss and went 11-0 this past month. Their last loss came Nov. 30 at the Laredo Border Olympics tourney.

Champion continued district play Tuesday by visiting Kerrville Tivy. They’ll host Pieper Friday.

The Chargers opened the tourney with a 64-34 win over Gregory- Portland. They followed that up with a 73-41 victory over Sinton on Wednesday.

Champion returned on Thursday to play just one game, a 65-51 victory over Laredo United.

Since Tivy and Seguin were entered in the tournament and they’re district opponents, they chose not to play each other. Also, Chargers coach Chris Adamek said he didn’t want to play Harlandale, a school he coached at before returning to BISD.
