The Boerne High baseball team was one of the few area squads to play any games last week after a cold front blew into the area and affected most of the games.
BHS was entered in the Victoria tournament so they traveled away from the colder area and went south toward the Texas coast and was able to play four games.
Boerne won all four games and improved to 15-1 this season. The Hounds host Antonian Tuesday, 7 p.m., and Central Catholic on Thursday, 3 p.m.
Boerne opened with a 10-0 win over Victoria West on Thursday behind 10 hits.
Cole Phillips homered in the fifth, Riley Pechacek and Rashawn Galloway doubled. Galloway added a single, picked up an RBI and scored 2 runs, while Pechacek also singled, walked twice and scored a run.
Cam. Johnson hit 2 singles, collected 2 RBI and scored twice, Kalob Sanchez singled, scored and drove in a run, Dylan Perez hit a triple and a single and scored twice.
Xander Cloudy picked up the win in six innings of work. He gave up 3 hits, no runs, walked 1 and fanned 4.
Up next on Thursday, the Greyhounds earned another shutout win, this time against Corpus Christi Ray, 5-0, and Cole Phillips picked up the win from the bump after he went six innings.
BHS coach Bill Merrill confirmed that Phillips hit 101 miles per hour on four different pitches in the game.
Phillips tossed 87 pitches, struck out 8, walked 3 and didn’t give up a hit. Xander Cloudy tossed in the final inning and gave up a hit.
Kalob Sanchez doubled, hit 2 singles, scored a run and pushed in a run, Cam Johnson singled, picked up an RBI and scored twice, Rashawn Galloway hit 3 singles and collected an RBI, Riley Pechacek singled, Tyler Garritano walked twice and scored once, Andrew Poole scored a run and Dylan Perez singled and drove in a run.
On Friday, while the BHS basketball team was playing in the state tournament in the Dome, the baseball team defeated C.C. Carroll, 12-2.
Kalob Sanchez and Cole Phillips hit 2 doubles each, while Sanchez scored 3 runs, added a single, 2 RBI and a run scored to his totals.
Cam Johnson singled, pushed in 2 runs and scored twice, Rashawn Galloway doubled and singled, collected 3 RBI, Riley Pechacek singled, had an RBI and scored twice, Tyler Garritano singled, Dylan Perez hit 2 singles, drove in 2 runs and scored once, Xander Cloudy singled, had an RBI and scored, while Andrew Poole and Max Garcia both crossed home plate once.
Garritano picked up the win on 61 pitches and gave up 4 hits, 2 runs and 1 walk.
The Hounds returned on Saturday for an early game and defeated Victoria East. BHS scored 4 in the first and added 4 more runs for the 8-0 win behind 10 hits.
Xander Cloudy and Cole Phillips both tripled, while Cloudy drove in a run and Phillips picked up an RBI and scored twice.
Cam Johnson doubled, singled and scored a run, Riley Pechacek doubled, singled, scored twice and drove in 2 runs, Kalob Sanchez and Max Garcia plated one run each, Rashawn Galloway singled and pushed in a run, Dylan Perez singled and scored, Andrew Poole and Xander Cloudy both singled, walked and picked up one RBI, and Connor Shill singled.
Poole won the game in six innings of work and tossed 77 pitches. He gave up 4 hits, no runs, 1 walk and struck out 4, while Landon Lestourgeon tossed an inning and didn’t give up a hit or run, fanned 1 and walked 1.
