Bobcat football players earn all-district awards

Comfort High had several football players receive postseason awards following the 2023 season.

A total of five Bobcats were named first-team offense ad five more were second-team offense.

It was the same thing on the defensive side of the ball as five Bobcats were named firstteam defensive selections and another five were second-team picks.

Nine more earned honorable mention in various positions.

Because Comfort is a 3A school, they had athletes play on both sides of the ball and some earn accolades on offense and defense.

Senior lineman Fabian Neri, junior lineman EJ Hernandez, sophomore running back Topper Sterling, senior running Mason West and senior quarterback Micah Nye were all first-team offensive selections.

Senior offensive lineman Terick Rodriguez, senior offensive lineman Eli Hernandez, sophomore offensive lineman Job Hernandez, senior wide receiver Santos Hernandez and junior running back Gio Lopez were all second-team selections.

Sophomore lineman Alexis Padilla, senior linebacker Alex Bezet, junior linebacker Gio Lopez, senior defensive back Israel Lopez and freshman defensive back Jared Valadez were all first-team picks.

Senior defensive lineman Fabian Neri, junior defensive lineman Cyrus Falcon, sophomore linebacker Hunter Ledlow, sophomore linebacker Damian Neri and sophomore cornerback Jose Gaspar were all second-team selections.

Nine more Bobcats were named honorable mention. Sophomore tight end Damian Neri, senior running back Landon Aguirre, freshman running back Gabe Gonzalez, senior defensive lineman/ linebacker Aidan Goral, senior linebacker Gage Gonzales, senior defensive back Mason West, senior linebacker Landon Aguirre, senior defensive lineman/linebacker Santos Hernandez and junior defensive back Evan Valadez were all listed as honorable mention.

Comfort went 6-6 overall and finished district play at 4-2 for third in 15-3A DII. The Bobcats opened the playoffs with a 67-28 win over Taft and then fell in the second round to Rogers, 58-27, to end their season.
