Leachman winning national title is top Kendall County sports story in 2023

Boerne Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman made quite a splash in 2023. The Chargers sophomore won gold in the 3200 at the 5A state track meet in Austin last spring and then in the fall captured the individual state title at the 5A state cross country meet in Round Rock.

Leachman followed that up by qualifying for the Nike Nationals and the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship National Finals in California.

At the 44th annual Foot Locker race in San Diego, Leachman sprinted her way to a national title with a time of 16:50.7 in the 5K race.

The humble sophomore has taken it all in stride and said she’s looking forward to the spring track season. She’ll take a few weeks off from competing and is scheduled to race again in mid-January.
