Lady Chargers snag second place in 26-5A girls soccer

Champion secured second place in the District 26-5A girls soccer race on Friday night and looked impressive in the process.

The Lady Chargers defeated Seguin, 8-0, and are 11-3 in district and 14-3-2 overall. Champion has two matches left in the regular season and they host Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday night before closing it out on Friday at Buda Johnson.

Defending state champs Dripping Springs won this year’s district title.

Because there are so many different school districts represented in 26-5A and since they don’t all take spring break the same week, they have to maintain a regular schedule during the Chargers spring break.

In Friday’s match, Champion tallied 4 goals in each half and took 41 shots, 31 on goal, and didn’t give up a shot all night.

At one point in the second half, they scored three goals in a span of less than four minutes.

Addison Huber finished with a hat trick and scored 3 goals, while Skyleigh Arnold, Olivia Farias, Lorenna Garza, Mack Arendall and Hannah Arnall all knocked in single goals.

Vivian Garza, Arnold, Farias and Lorenna Garza all recorded 1 assist each.
