Christmas tree pickup dates

While it might be hard to believe, 2024 is just days away and many Boerne Utilities customers who purchased live Christmas trees will soon be looking to recycle their trees.

This year, there will be multiple opportunities for Boerne residents and Boerne Utilities residential customers to have their live Christmas tree properly disposed.

The first collection period will take place the week of Jan. 2-5, done by city crews from the city’s Streets Department. This collection is only for residents within the city limits of Boerne.

To have a tree picked up the week of Jan. 2-5, residents must call the customer care and billing office at 830-249-9511, option 1, no later than Friday Dec. 29, to be added to the schedule.

The second collection will occur during the monthly residential bulk/ brush collection through Waste Management, which will happen the second full week of the month (Jan. 8-12).

This is available to all Boerne Utilities residential customers who have trash and recycling. Residents only have to place the tree by the curb on each regularly scheduled collection day.

For city residents who plan to keep the tree up a little later, there will be a final collection the week of Jan. 22-26, conducted by crews for the city’s Streets Department. This collection is only for residents within the city limits of Boerne.

To have your tree picked up the week of Jan. 22-26, call the customer care and billing office at 830-2499511 option 1 no later than Jan. 19 to be added to the schedule.

Trees picked up by city crews will be chipped into mulch for use at various park sites and in public landscape beds.

For trees to be picked up: * Trees eight feet or taller must be cut in two and tied or bundled together.

* Tree trunks need to be less than 6” in diameter.

* All ornaments, lights, stands, nails, and other items must be removed.

* No flocked trees will be collected, nor can they be recycled at the county brush site.
