BOERNE – Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries is one of eight nonprofit organizations serving Boerne, the Hill Country, and San Antonio area to receive a share of $100,000 given by a San Antonio firm.
Hollywood-Crawford Door Company of San Antonio, a residential and commercial overhead garage door and opener sales and installation firm, recently handed out more than $100,000 to eight nonprofit organizations.
“We are thrilled to be able to support organizations doing wonderful work in San Antonio and the Hill Country,” Randy Oliver, president of Hollywood- Crawford, said.
Debi Watson, communications and partner services coordinator for Hill Country Daily Bread Ministry, said the agency uses the funds from Hollywood- Crawford Door for its annual Vision fundraising dinner every March.
The Vision dinner features a catered dinner, auction, live performers and stories shared by HCDBM recipient families and teens, all under a circus tent that seats at least 1,000 people, erected on the agency’s property for the event.
“Sponsors are sought to help underwrite costs of the dinner, so all proceeds from that night’s event go straight into the HCDBM coffers,” Watson said. The Vision dinner proceeds help cover expenses for HCDBM mentoring, outreach and food campaigns with the residents of the eight counties it serves.
Hollwood-Crawford has been an active supporter “for at least the last five years” in getting the dinner funded, Watson said.
The other nonprofit agencies receiving funds from the firm are: * 1Hope for Kids, a foster care and adoption agency in Bexar, Comal and surrounding counties that trains, licenses and supports Christian families.
* The SHARE Center of Bulverde and Spring Branch, providing free pregnancy services for those facing unplanned pregnancies or other sexual health issues with professional medical care.
* Daily Bread Ministries, a nonprofit based in San Antonio that supports food pantries in the area with fresh, healthy food. In addition to weekly food distribution, Daily Bread equips its partners with resources and training to address the root cause of poverty.
* Acceptance Wellness Care Centers (formerly Any Woman Can), a nonprofit that assists women in crisis with free counseling, free ultrasounds, free STI testing and free pregnancy testing.
* The South Texas Alliance for Orphans, which serves and equips churches in caring for children and families impacted by the foster care system.
* Every Nation Churches & Ministries, a worldwide organization of churches and campus ministries with a San Antonio presence.
* San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, which emphasizes agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas.
Hollywood-Crawford Door Company has been providing garage door products in the San Antonio region since 1947.
