Geneva teams pull off sweep of Texas School for the Deaf

It was a doubleheader for the Geneva School of Boerne varsity basketball teams Friday night when the Eagles hosted Texas School for the Deaf.

The Geneva boys and girls were able to defeat the Austin school to make it a clean sweep and pick up district wins.

Geneva is off until they host the Hill Country Classic Dec. 28-30.

Boys

The Geneva boys beat Texas School for the Deaf, 72-20, and improved to move to 2-0 in district play and 12-3 overall.

Geneva had a fast start and was leading 51-10 at halftime. They outscored TSFD in the second half 21-10.

Wyatt Bruss led the team with 26 points, Griffin Freiling added 13 and Jack Taylor scored 10, while K.P. FitzGerald added 8.

Girl

The Geneva girls are also 12-3 overall and 2-0 in district after Friday’s 76-41 win over TSFD.

Maegan Riebel led the team with 18 points, Kyra Petty added 12 and Madeline Egbert finished with 11 as three Eagles were in double figures.

Bethany DeLuna, Sopris Oglesby and Morgan Howard all netted 6, Lindsay Lee and Grace Detterick dropped in 5 points apiece, Hailey Kirchner scored 4 and Suzie Nilsson had 3.

Petty also tallied 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, Detterick grabbed 7 boards, Lee and Howard also dished out 4 assists and Egbert came up with 4 steals.
