The Comfort girls basketball team hosted Stockdale Tuesday and once again fell victim to a couple of bad scoring quarters.
The Deer scored just 4 points in the first quarter and only 2 in the third and fell to Stockdale, 46-31.
With the loss the Deer slip to 5-12 on the season. They hosted YWLA on Friday.
Comfort was down 11-4 after one but played better in the second and outscored Stockdale in the second, 15-11, and was down by only three points at halftime, 22-19.
But a bad third quarter doomed the Deer’s chances. Stockdale won the third 18-2 and opened up a 40-21 lead.
Comfort tried to rally in the fourth but only netted 10, although they did hold Stockdale to 6 but it wasn’t enough to catch them.
Comfort’s Rachel Adams had another strong game with 19 points, Alexa Lozano and Tindall Ahrens both netted 4, while Jael Hernandez and Danielle Ruelas dropped in 2 points apiece.
Hernandez grabbed a team-high 4 rebounds and came up with 3 steals, while Adams also had 3 steals.
