Davenport was able to defeat the Boerne High girls basketball Tuesday night in their 27-4A opener.
The Wolves won the contest, 48-41, to hand Boerne its first district loss since the 2021-22 season.
BHS starts league play at 0-1 and is 11-3 overall. The Lady Greyhounds hosted Bandera Friday as they looked to get back on track. After that, they are scheduled to host Incarnate Word Monday, 3 p.m.
Tuesday’s game was tied 33-33 at the end of three quarters but the Wolves outscored the Hounds in the final stanza, 15-8.
Davenport was up 11-6 after one and then both teams hit for 17 in the second to give the Wolves a 28-23 lead at the break.
Boerne caught Davenport in the third after outscoring them, 10-5, and it was knotted up at 33-all.
That’s when the Wolves pulled away in the fourth quarter by basically double-up the Lady Hounds at 15-8 to secure the win.
Averi Aaron was making her return for BHS after an injury and led the team with 14 points, Abby Smith added 9, Chloe Donnell netted 8, Jenna Ruede scored 6 and Meredith McLeod finished with 4.
