Spending the holiday keeping you safe

BEHIND THE BADGE E

During the holiday season, I want to take a moment and express my gratitude to my fellow neighbors here in Boerne. Every day I am thankful for you and this wonderful community we live in.

With the holidays upon us, family and friends will be gathering to enjoy the season. I feel it is important to reflect on the memories and experiences we had this year and to be grateful for what we have and what we have been given.

At the same time, we can’t shy away from the challenges we face, but instead we must reflect on what we learned from our experiences and use it to make us better and stronger than before.

I want to thank all our first responders across the country and specifically those who serve in Boerne and Kendall County. While many will be celebrating the holidays with their families, our police, fire, and paramedics will be working.

This is a profession we have chosen, and we know the cost. The cost of working holidays and missing out on special events. Rescheduling holiday parties to fit our work schedule so we can be there with our families and friends. Celebrating the holidays with those we work with and keeping their spirits alive.

We understand the safety of our communities and citizens is a priority and we take this very seriously. Public safety is a 24/7 operation, and I appreciate the individuals who will spend the holidays away from their families to keep our communities safe and be ready to answer calls for service.

We are grateful for this wonderful and unique community we serve and protect, and we cherish your support.

Looking ahead, we are eager to begin 2024 and continue to remain positive despite what we may see or face. In a world of choices, we have chosen our profession and this community.

From the first responders and from your Boerne Police Department, we hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
