Geneva School of Boerne played three girls basketball games at the Pantego Hoopfest tournament last weekend at Pantego Christian School near the Dallas area.
The Eagles went 2-1 at the tourney and stand at 10-3 overall. Geneva visited Brentwood Christian in Austin Tuesday night to open district and will host Texas School for the Deaf Friday as part of a doubleheader with the boys team.
The girls tip off at 6:15 p.m. and the boys game starts at 7:30 p.m.
At the tourney, Geneva opened with a 49-35 win over Legacy Christian Academy.
Maegan Riebel led the team with 15 points and went 7 for 10 from 2-point range. Kyra Petty added 11 and Madeline Egbert scored 9.
Morgan Howard netted 5, Suzie Nilsson hit for 4, Payton Boles hit for 2 and Bethany DeLuna made a free throw.
Petty led the team on the boards with 9 rebounds, Riebel dished out 6 assists and came up with 7 steals, while Howard had 4 steals.
The Eagles returned on Friday and lost to Lake Country Christian, 41-35, in a battle between the No. 1 and 2 TAPPS teams in the state.
Maegan Riebel again paced the team with 17 points, Morgan Howard scored 9, Madeline Egbert finished with 4 points, Lindsay Lee netted 3 and Bethany DeLuna added 2.
Petty had another strong game on the boards and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Howard snagged 10 boards. Petty also recorded 3 assists and came up with 3 steals, while DeLuna also had 3 steals.
Geneva closed out the tourney on Saturday with a 42-29 victory over the host school, Pantego Christian.
Maegan Riebel led the team in scoring for the third time at the tourney and finished with 17 points, while Kyra Petty was in double digits with 13 points.
Lindsay Lee chipped in with 6, while Madeline Egbert, Bethany DeLuna and Hailey Kirchner all scored 2.
Petty had team high honors on the boards for the third time at the tourney and had 8 rebounds to go with 3 assists, while DeLuna also dished out 3 assists and Riebel came up with 4 steals.
