The Comfort High girls basketball team was on the road Friday for a game in downtown San Antonio when the Deer took on the Lady Buffs from Fox Tech.
A 13-0 second-quarter run by the Lady Buffs proved to be the difference in the game as Fox Tech went on to win the contest, 53-34.
With the loss, the Deer fell to 5-12 this season. They hosted Stockdale Tuesday and Comfort is also home Friday to play YWLA.
Fox Tech was winning Friday’s game 14-9 at the end of the first quarter but then pulled away in the second after they tallied 13 points and held the Deer scoreless to take a 27-9 lead into the break.
Other than the second quarter, it was a pretty even game. Comfort tallied 25 points in the second half and the Lady Buffs scored 26.
Fox Tech outscored the Deer 40-34 in the first, third and fourth quarters combined but the 13-0 run in the second put it away for the Lady Buffs.
Rachel Adams led the Deer with 7 points, Katie Haffner had 5, Jael Hernandez, Molly Gowan and Danielle Ruelas all scored 4, Brianna Ornelas and Tindall Ahrens netted 3 points apiece, while Alexa Lozano and Cynthia Leos both had 2.
