After a week off, the Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team was back on the court Tuesday night when they hosted Austin St. Michael’s.
The Eagles went on to post a double-digit win, 46-34, to improve to 8-2 this year. Geneva was at the Pantego Tournament in the Dallas area this weekend.
Both teams had a fast start Tuesday and Geneva was up 17-13 at the end of the first quarter but St. Michael’s never hit in double digits the rest of the way.
The Eagles took the second period, 12-8, and held a 29-21 lead at halftime.
Both teams slowed down in the second half but the Eagles won both quarters, 8-7, and 9-6, despite having their leading scorer foul out.
Maegan Riebel finished with 20 points despite not playing in the fourth quarter after she fouled out late in the third stanza.
Bethany DeLuna netted 7 points, Kyra Petty tallied 6, Lindsay Lee hit for 5, Morgan Howard chipped in with 4, while Madeline Egbert and Suzie Nilsson both scored 2.
Petty grabbed 10 rebounds, DeLuna dished out 5 assists, Riebel, Egbert and Petty all recorded 4 assists and Egbert came up with 6 steals.
