By continuing to conserve water during the winter months, Boerne Utilities water customers can save money on their water bill.
Boerne Water Utility customers should avoid landscape irrigation and reduce indoor water use as much as possible during the winter months, December through March.
Conserving water indoors and especially outdoors during this timeframe can mean savings on the sewer portion of your Boerne utility bill next year.
Residential sewer bills are based on the average water usage during December, January, February, and March each year.
The new sewer rate is then effective April 2024 through March 2025.
Most water utilities across the country, including Boerne Utilities, use winter water averaging to calculate the monthly fee for residential sewer services.
Most water used during the winter is for indoor purposes and is processed at the wastewater treatment plant. Therefore, the average water use amount determines the average monthly amount of water discharged through the sewer system.
Anyone with questions about winter averaging can call the Utilities Customer Care and Billing Office at 830-249-9511.
