Comfort High posted a 1-3 mark at the Harper Girls Basketball Tournament last weekend.
With the conclusion of the tourney, the Deer record stands at 4-11. They traveled to Dilley on Tuesday and visit Fox Tech Friday.
Comfort opened with a 43-16 win over Medina last Thursday morning.
The Deer won every quarter and were up 14-6 after one. They took the second 10-4 for the 24-10 halftime lead.
Comfort held Medina to 2 in the third after outscoring them, 14-2, and then won the final period, 5-4.
Rachel Adams had a strong game with 19 points and Jael Hernandez added 11 as the two combined for 30 of the team’s 43 points.
Tindall Ahrens finished with 6, Hannah Adams had 3, while Katie Haffner and Alexa Lozano both scored 2.
Ahrens and Haffner came up with 6 rebounds each, Hernandez tallied 6 steals and Lozano came up with 5 steals, while Hernandez dished out 6 assists.
Later on Thursday, Comfort took on Ballinger and lost, 58-29.
Ballinger was up 17-8 after one and then took the second, 11-3, for the 28-11 halftime lead.
Comfort played better in the third, but Ballinger still outscored them, 12-11, for the 40-22 lead. Ballinger then closed it out with an 18-7 fourth quarter.
Rachel Adams led the team with 8 points, Tindall Ahrens and Katie Haffner chipped in with 6 points apiece, Hannah Adams and Jael Hernandez netted 4 each and Alexa Lozano hit a free throw.
Ahrens was big on the boards and collected 14 rebounds, Rachel Adams had a steal and Hernandez tallied 4 assists.
Comfort returned on Friday and lost to Rocksprings, 56-23. Rocksprings was leading 17-4 after one and doubled up the Deer in the second, 12-6, for the 29-10 halftime lead.
Comfort was outscored in the third, 12-10, and then dropped the fourth quarter, 15-3.
Rachel Adams had more than half of the team’s points and tallied 12. Tindall Ahrens added 4, Jael Hernandez, Alexa Lozano and Hannah Adams all scored 2 and Katie Haffner hit a free throw.
Rachel Adams also led the team on the boards and grabbed 6 rebounds to go with 2 steals, while Hernandez and Haffner both came up with 2 steals.
Haffner, Rachel Adams and Ahrens all dished out 2 assists.
Comfort closed out the tourney on Saturday with its best effort of the event but lost by a point to host Harper, 31-30.
Harper doubled up the Deer in the first, 8-4, and then outscored Comfort by a point in the second, 11-10, for the 19-14 halftime lead.
Comfort won the third period by a point, 8-7, and took the fourth quarter, 8-5, but their comeback came up short.
Rachel Adams paced the Deer with 15 points, Jael Hernandez netted 8, Hannah Adams scored 4, Alexa Lozano chipped in with 2 and Katie Haffner hit a free throw and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Tindall Ahrens snagged 6 boards, Hernandez came up with 4 steals and Brianna dished out 3 assists.
