It was a battle of Eagles Friday night when the Geneva School of Boerne boys basketball team hosted San Antonio Stacey. Both have the same mascot.
In the end, the Eagles from Geneva flew away from the Stacey Eagles, 45-31.
Geneva improved to 8-2 overall and was home Tuesday to host Great Heart Northern Oaks.
The Geneva Eagles were up 9-7 after one quarter and then struggled in the second period with only 3 points. Stacey also labored to score and only tallied 6 but it was enough to give them a 13-12 lead at halftime.
Both teams picked up the pace in the second half and it started in the third quarter after Geneva netted 15 and Stacey came up with 12 to allow the Eagles from Boerne to retake the lead at 27-25.
Geneva closed it out with its best scoring quarter of the night after they recorded 18 points and held Stacey to 6 to wrap up the 14-point win.
Wyatt Bruss led Geneva with 19 points and scored all 19 of his points in the second half. K.P. Fitzgerald was also in double digits with 10 points, Griffin Freiling netted 8, Jack Taylor chipped in with 6 and Jack Walker Harden hit for 2.
Geneva had five players score, while Stacey only had three players score.
