Asencion Luevanos Fernandez

December 6, 1947 – March 5, 2022

Asencion Luevanos Fernandez, 74, of Boerne, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holt & Holt Funeral Home with a recitation of the Rosary to begin at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, at 12 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with committal to follow at Boerne Cemetery.

Asencion, affectionately known as “Chon,” was born on December 6, 1947, in Rio Escondido, Coahuila, Mexico. He was the oldest of 13 children. At the age of 10, he stopped going to school so he could help raise his brothers and sisters. He worked hard to provide them with all types of necessities by shining shoes, selling Chiclets and running errands. His siblings regard him as their father to this day.

At the age of 19, he married the love of his life, Leonor Saucedo Fernandez, and they had five children. In 1972, he decided to move his family to the United States so they could have a better life. He worked as a ranch hand for several years in Sisterdale, Texas, and the surrounding areas. Later in life, he secured a more stable job at Tapatio Springs in Boerne, where he worked for more than 15 years.

Chon enjoyed working outdoors. He loved riding horses, singing rancheras and spending time with his family. He had lots and lots of friends all over the United States and hundreds more in Mexico.

Chon is survived by his wife of 53 years, Leonor Saucedo Fernandez; his children, Manuela (Isidro) Ramirez, Sergio Fernandez, Emma (David) Franco, Beatrice (Michael) Joles and Asencion (Maria) Fernandez Jr.; his sisters, Maria Fernandez, Juanita Fernandez and Hortencia Fernandez; and his brother, Juan Fernandez. He also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Chon’s family would like to express their gratitude toward everyone who visited or kept in touch via phone calls, texts, social media and any other way. We are extremely grateful for all of your support.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne to honor Asencion’s memory.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the staff of Holt & Holt Funeral Home of Boerne. To share words of comfort with the family, please visitwww.holtfh.com.
