Both the Geneva School of Boerne girls soccer and basketball teams had great years and both advanced to the state semifinals in their respective sports.
The Eagles basketball team was ranked No. 1 for most of the season and was defeated by Houston Second Baptist in the state semifinals in Waco, 46-38, to end the year at 28-3.
The future looks bright for the Geneva team that was led in scoring in the state semis by two freshman, Maegan Riebel and Chloe Donnell, after Riebel tallied 14 and Donnell scored 10.
Seniors Alexa Elizondo and Micah Howard both finished with 5 points and senior Sydney Griffey added 4.
Griffey and Riebel both grabbed 7 rebounds and Griffey came up with 4 steals.
The Geneva girls soccer team wrapped up its best season ever after advancing to the state’s Final Four. The Eagles were defeated by St. Michael’s Catholic Academy last weekend in San Marcos.
Geneva was hot and had won 12 matches going into Saturday but fell to the Austin school, 3-0.
