The Comfort girls basketball team played two games before the Thanksgiving break and dropped both of them.
The Deer lost to Rocksprings and Johnson City. Comfort is 2-8 overall and visited Center Point Tuesday.
Vs. Rocksprings
Comfort lost to Rocksprings, 50-11, the Monday before Thanksgiving.
It was close in the first half and the Deer were trailing 7-4 after a quarter and then Rocksprings outscored CHS in the second, 10-7, for the 17-11 halftime lead but Comfort didn’t score in the second half.
Rocksprings finished with 11 in the third and 22 in the fourth to get its 50 points.
Hannah Adams dropped in 4 points, Katie Haffner scored 3, Tindall Ahrens added 2 and Jael Hernandez hit a free throw.
Vs. Johnson City
JC defeated the Deer, 44-21.
Comfort had another slow start and didn’t score in the first quarter and was down 17-0 after one.
The Deer played better in the second and outscored the Eagles, 10-8, to trail at the break at 25-10.
Johnson City won the third stanza, 16-5, and opened up a 41-15 lead before the Deer took the fourth quarter 6-3 to close it out.
Tindall Ahrens paced the team with 9 points, Rachel Adams added 4, Katie Haffner scored 3, Hannah Adams and Danielle Ruelas both netted 2 and Jael Hernandez hit a free throw.
Ahrens grabbed 9 rebounds, Rachel Adams had 4 steals and Hernandez dished out 3 assists.
