Former Boerne High softball coach Jennifer Fox returned to Boerne to lead Alamo Heights against the Champion softball team Tuesday night at Charger Field.

Fox, who led the Greyhounds to the 2007 state title, didn’t get the kind of results she was hoping for after her Mules were run-ruled by the Chargers, 13-0, in four and a half innings.

Champion is 2-1 in district and 6-4-1 overall. They are scheduled to play Veterans Memorial Friday.

Alamo Heights kept it close early in Tuesday’s game and it was only 4-0 in favor of the Chargers after three innings but the Chargers scored 9 runs in the fourth inning to blow it open.

After the Mules didn’t score in the top of the fifth, the game ended because of the mercy rule.

Champion finished with 16 hits, including a home run by Madison Hall, who drove in 3 runs.

Ashley Ottmers doubled and hit 3 singles, scored 2 runs and pushed in 2 runs, while Lily Ritchie doubled and singled, scored once and picked up an RBI.

Carmen Vela singled and scored 2 runs, Gabi Vela hit 2 singles, collected 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Krista Tarver hit 2 singles, scored and picked up an RBI, Finley Shanley and Ava Trevino both singled, scored and drove in a run, Jaycee Bendele scored once, Riley Murrish singled and Kassidy Kureska singled and scored.

Carmen Vela picked up the win on 62 pitches and tossed a one hitter. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out 10.
