BHS girls win SAISD tourney for 3rd straight year

SAN ANTONIO – Boerne High was entered in the SAISD Girls Basketball Tournament last weekend and for the third year in a row, the Lady Greyhounds took the tourney title.

BHS went 4-0 at the tourney and improved to 7-0 this season. It was their fourth year in a row to make it to the tournament finals. Boerne’s Averi Aaron was named the Tournament MVP, while teammates Abby Smith and Chloe Donnell were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Hounds played at Highlands Monday and hosted Warren Tuesday before taking a week off for Thanksgiving.

Boerne opened the tourney with a 62-14 win over Cleburne Thursday evening.

BHS returned on Friday and crushed Incarnate Word, 77-7 to advance to the semifinals of the tournament later that day.

In the semis, Boerne ruled over Sotomayor, 44-36, to qualify for the finals held Saturday.

In the championship match, the Lady Greyhounds defeated El Paso Burgess, 46-28, to wrap up the title.
