The Comfort High boys basketball hosted Knippa Tuesday night in the season opener and came away with a 12-point victory.
The Bobcats won the game, 52-40, to start the year at 1-0. Comfort was scheduled to play Devine Friday but that contest has been cancelled because of the Bobcats playoff game held Friday in Buda against Rogers in the second round.
CHS won every quarter except the fourth and was up 13-5 after one. They outscored Knippa in the second 18-7 for the 31-12 halftime lead.
Knippa played better in the third and tallied 13 but the Cats still outscored them by a point after dropping in 14 for the 45-25 advantage.
Knippa won the final stanza 15-7 to cut the game to 12 points.
Joel Lozano had a strong season opener and netted 24 for Comfort, Jackson Dear was also in double digits with 10, Jaydin Steward and Mark Hernandez both tallied 6 and Aidan Schwarz added 4.
