Geneva girls win last two games, score 100 against Castle Hill

The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team continues its hot start to the 2023-24 season.

After beating Mason in its opener, the Eagles played TMI – Episcopal last Thursday and Castle Hills last Saturday and scored 168 points in those two games at home, including dropping 100 on Castle Hills.

Geneva improves to 3-0 and is off until this weekend when they are scheduled to play in the Cornerstone Tournament starting Thursday.

Vs. Castle Hills

Geneva won the contest vs. Castle Hills, 100-40, and had three players score at least 20 points after Maegan Riebel finished with 25 points, while Bethany DeLuna and Kyra Petty both netted 20.

Morgan Howard was also in double figures with 11 points, while Madeline Egbert scored 7, Grace Detterick netted 6, Lindsay Lee and Sopris Oglesby tallied 4 apiece. Suzie Nilsson had 2 and Hailey Kirchner hit a free throw.

Geneva did most of its damage in the paint and made 37 of 71 shots from 2-point range. They also hit seven 3s and went 5 for 6 at the free-throw line.

Petty made it a triple double and added 10 rebounds and 10 steals to her 20 points. Nilsson recorded 6 assists and Riebel added 5 assists.

Vs. TMI

Geneva topped TMI Saturday, 68-14, and Maegan Riebel paced the Eagles with 28 points after she went 10 for 10 from 2-point range and was 2 for 2 at the line, along with make a pair of 3s.

Kyra Petty dropped in a dozen points, Bethany DeLuna netted 7, Morgan Howard added 6, Lindsay Lee had 5, Hailey Kirchner and Madeline Egbert scored 3 apiece and Sopris Oglesby finished with 2 points.

Petty led the team on the boards with 7 rebounds, while Riebel snagged 6 boards, came up with 5 steals and dished out 4 assists.
