Boerne Champion played in its first girls basketball tournament of the season last weekend at Rouse and went 3-2 at the event.
Adriana Barreiro was selected to the All-Tournament team for the Chargers team that hosted Warren Tuesday for its 2023 home opener.
Champion was 3-3 overall heading into Tuesday.
The Chargers opened with a 63-44 win over Lampasas last Thursday and were led by Addison Darter who tallied 21 points, while Bralyn Gault dropped in a dozen and Adriana Barreiro and Ainsley Darter both scored 7.
Champion followed that win with a 48-32 victory over Dripping Springs later that day.
The Chargers held the Tigers without a point in the second quarter.
Abby Sommer scored 12 and Addison Darter finished with 9 points. Barreiro had 3 steals, Cristina Ramon Alfaro had 4 assists and five players snagged 4 rebounds each.
Champion suffered its first loss of the tourney on Friday to Lake Belton in a close one, 59-51.
The Chargers did score 19 and 16 in the second and third quarters but were held in single digits in the first and fourth.
Bralyn Gault led the team with 11 points, Taylor Burk added 10 and Abby Sommer had 8. Gault also pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds, Adriana Barreiro dished out 7 assists and three players came up with 2 steals apiece.
Champion bounced back with a 60-40 win over Rouse and scored at least 12 points in each stanza.
Addison Darter finished with 18 points, Bralyn Gault added 11 and Adriana Barreiro scored 7, while Taylor Burk recorded 4 assists and snagged 7 boards. Burk and Gault both came up with 4 steals.
In its final game, the Chargers fell to Second Baptist, 69-47 in the consolation game.
Champion was in double digits all four quarters again but gave up 21 in the first and 26 in the third.
Addison Darter led the team with 9 points, Ainsley Darter scored 7 and Hailey Winn came up with 6 points.
