Boerne High opened its girls basketball season Tuesday in Castroville at Medina Valley and even though it was the first game of the year, the Lady Greyhounds look to be in midseason form.
BHS mauled Medina Valley, 86-17, to start the year at 1-0. The Lady Hounds were home Friday to host Alamo Heights.
Boerne High was leading 27-2 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Lady Panthers in the second, 20-8, for the 47-10 halftime lead.
The Lady Hounds cooled down a bit in the third but still knocked in 14 points and held Medina Valley to 5 to open up the 61-15 advantage.
BHS picked it back up in the final stanza and outscored the Lady Panthers, 25-2, for the lopsided 69-point win.
Boerne shot 53 percent from the field and went 25 of 36 from 2-point range for 69 percent shooting.
The Lady Hounds finished with 23 steals and forced 32 turnovers.
Boerne scored 48 points in the paint and were paced by Averi Aaron who tallied 30 points in the contest. Chloe Donnell and Mickena Randle added 14 points apiece, Abby Smith netted 13 and Addison Palluch scored 10 as five Lady Hounds were in double digits. Savannah Salinas added 5 points.
Smith grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 5 assists, Aaron snagged 7 boards and had 5 steals, while Palluch also came up with 5 steals.
