Merriman
Sarah Ann Merriman, 34, closed her eyes here on earth and opened her eyes in Heaven on Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home in San Antonio, Texas.
Sarah’s quick wit, fighting spirit, and zest for life were her trademarks. If you told her she couldn’t, she’d show you she could.
Her hysterical comments, one-liners, and stories would leave everyone laughing out loud.
A true American patriot, Sarah loved our country, our American flag, and held our American service members -- past and present -- in the highest esteem, honoring these men and women along with their families as a Family Readiness Group leader for her husband’s Army National Guard company. As the owner of Wandering Road Photography, Sarah won awards early on in her short photography career for creativity and use of natural light. Sarah was in her element during photo shoots, and her clients-turned-friends remarked that their sessions with Sarah behind the camera were relaxing and fun.
Originally from Elgin, Illinois, Sarah was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan who counted down the days each spring until opening day.
Sarah was happiest at home, cooking together for friends and family. She especially loved cooking with her mama, Miriam, and daughters, Tarynn and Harper. In a world of fast food and pre-prepared meals, Sarah cooked from scratch. Everything she made was delicious and made with love.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Vince, and their three precious children, daughters Tarynn and Harper, and son Wiliam. She is also survived by her mother, Miriam (Bill) Paluka; dad, Jack Dunn; father, Tom Wade; brothers, Eli (Sonya) Alborn, and Jake (Beckie) Alborn; sister, Amber (Mike) Ballejo; six beloved nieces and nephews, many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who became family.
Sarah’s family would like to extend special gratitude to the entire Women’s Specialty Unit of Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Dr. Antonio Santillan, Dr. Jennifer Lee, Dr. Calvin Mein, the radiology department of Texas Oncology, and Concho Hearts Hospice. These men and women treated Sarah with exceptional kindness, love and compassion. We won’t forget you.
Sarah lived her life through music and laughter, songs of praise, compassion, huge hugs, long talks with people who needed a friend, and telling everyone she met about her best friend, Jesus.
We, Sarah’s family, entrust our wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter, and friend into the arms of Jesus Christ who is the resurrection and the life.
