Boerne motorist dies behind the wheel

The Boerne Police Department has concluded a preliminary investigation into a fatal incident involving the driver of a truck that occurred on Friday, November 3, 2023.

Police received a 911 call at 3:18 p.m. for a report of a single vehicle crash in the 1300 block of River Road.

First responders arrived and found Paul Hamm, 69, unresponsive in his pickup truck.

Police officers began rescue efforts before emergency medical technicians from Kendall County EMS and firefighters from the Boerne Fire Department arrived.

First responders continued life-saving steps on Hamm at the scene and at Boerne Methodist Hospital, but he did not survive.

He was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Debby Hudson.

After investigating the accident, it is believed Hamm suffered a medical episode, causing him to make an emergency stop on the side of the road near the sign for the Kendall County Fairgrounds.

There is no evidence to suggest the accident played a role in Hamm’s death.
