The Boerne ISD named Lizeth Thompson as the first-ever principal of Viola Wilson Elementary School.
The appointment was approved at the Boerne ISD board of trustees regular monthly meeting on Monday night. Viola Wilson Elementary is scheduled to open in August 2024.
Thompson has served as an educator for more than 20 years, including the last seven years at Lake Travis Elementary, where she first served as assistant principal (2017-2022), and most recently as principal.
“We are thrilled to have such an experienced leader like Lizeth lead Viola Wilson Elementary,” Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price said. “Having taught at BISD before, she is well aware of our unique culture, as well as our wonderful community.
“Her decades of experience teaching bilingual and dual language students are a perfect fit for our newest emerging bilingual campus,” Price added.
Her entire teaching experience has been in a bilingual/dual language classroom. She began her career at Northside ISD where she taught second and third grade. She then moved to Boerne ISD where she taught kindergarten, third and fourth grades.
In addition, she was also a dual language teacher in Northeast ISD and was an administrative intern during her time there.
Thompson received her bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University and earned her master’s degree from University of Texas at San Antonio. Currently, she is a doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin.
