Champion golf teams in action
The Boerne Champion boys and girls golf teams were recently in action as they play a few tournaments in the fall before really opening up the schedule in the spring.
The Charger boys were at the Bart Granger Tournament Championship in Fort Worth and the Lady Chargers were at the Swing for the Cure tourney in SanAntonio.
Varsity Boys
The Chargers tied with two others for eighth place with a two-day score of 573 in the field of 27 teams.
Champion shot rounds of 291 and 282 for its 573 to tie Southlake Carroll and San Angelo Central.
For the Chargers, Phoenix Guerra came in with a 69 and 73 for a 142 to tie for 29th place, Aidan Taylor and Zach Franz both finished with 144s to tie for 50th with six others after Taylor shot consecutive rounds of 72 and Franz shot a 75 and 69.
Tristan Frantz scored a 146 with rounds of 75 and 71 to tie for 62nd with six others, while Chase Knight carded a 148 with rounds of 78 and 70 to tie for 80th with six others in a field of 258 individual golfers.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Chargers were entered in the Swing for the Cure tournament in San Antonio at the Brackenridge course and played three rounds, two rounds on one day and one on another day.
Champion finished 10th as a team with a three-day score of 967 after they carded rounds of 328, 322 and 317.
Cate Johnson shot rounds of 82, 79 and 79 for a 240, Camryn Leslie was in at 241 with rounds of 86, 80 and 75, Sage Langenberg finished with a 245 with two rounds of 82 to go with an 81, Brooke Castillon recorded a 249 with rounds of 81, 83 and 85 and Caroline Franz finished with a 254 after shooting rounds of 81, 82 and 91.
