Boerne boys win district championship

BANDERA – Boerne High competed at the District 27- 4A meet Thursday morning in Bandera and the Boerne boys won this year’s district title, while the season came to an end for the Lady Hounds team, but one of their runners did advance to regionals.

The top three teams and top 10 individuals not on an advancing team qualify for regionals set for Tuesday, Oct 24, at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Varsity Boys

The Boerne boys scored 32 points to win this year’s district title, their first since 2018.

Davenport (55) was 2nd, Bandera (83) came in 3rd, Fredericksburg (108) finished 4th, Canyon Lake (110) placed 5th and Wimberley (138) was 6th. Navarro didn’t field a full team but had the individual district winner in Ethan Luu who ran a 15:42.9 for 1st.

In adjusted scoring, Jackson Temple led BHS and was 2nd in a time of 16:09.2, Carsten Bain finished 5th with a 16:32.6, Aaron Garcia placed 6th after running a 16:37.1, Barrett Crofut posted a time of 16:47.1 for 9th, Tayson Farar came in 10th in 16:51.9, Caleb Benchoff recorded a 17:40.7 for 16th and Ethan Christianson rounded out the team in 19th place with a time of 17:49.6.

The BHS JV boys also won district after they took 1st with 28 points.

Varsity Girls

Boerne’s Eleanor Davis finished 7th overall and will advance to regionals while the BHS girls team placed 6th with 119 points.

Fredericksburg (29) won district, Davenport (60) was 2nd, Navarro (109) placed 3rd, followed by Canyon Lake (114) in 4th, Bandera (118) took 5th, then Boerne at 119 and Wimberley (145) came in 7th.

Davis paced the Lady Hounds with a time of 11:54 for 7th, Mary Marino was 24th in 12:50.3, Lilly Cox finished one spot back in 25th with a 12:53.8, Genevieve Sengler came in 31st after running a 13:10, Mahaley Merkins recorded a 13:15.5 for 32nd, Kiera Sawyer was 33rd with a 13:22 and Sophia King posted a 13:42.4 for 40th.

The JV girls end their season after they were 2nd with 54 points.

The Boerne High boys start Thursday’s district meet in Bandera and claimed this year’s 27-4A title.
