OCTOBER 7

• 8th Street Market’s 16th Vintage Flea, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 523 Eighth St., Comfort. There will be more than 30 vendors participating in their “mini Roundtop.” Vintage, antiques, art, artisans, food and wine.

• Boerne Book Festival, Main Plaza, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This free event celebrates all things literary and includes author discussion panels, children’s activities and more. The festival focuses on Texas and its rich history. Visit www.boernebookfest. com for details.

• Family Camp Out and Fishing Tournament, Boerne City Lake. Spend the night at the lake with Boerne Parks and Recreation. It’s the only night of the year that camping is allowed at this park. Registration is required.

• Carriage House 20th Anniversary Party, 4-7 p.m. There will be catered Mexican food and margaritas (while supplies last), and live music by Austin- based musician Anthony Garcia. Watch art demonstrations and talk with the artists about their work, inspiration, and techniques.

• Celebrate the Cibolo Gala: 35th anniversary, Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road, from 6-9:30 p.m. Festivities include a unique farm-to-table experience amid a beautiful backdrop with historic places, gardens, wide open fields, shady oaks and lots of space to enjoy with friends. Tickets: cibolo. org/gala.

• Music in the Cave: from JS Bach to Appalachia, from 7-9 p.m. at Cave WithoutAName,325KreutzbergRoad in Boerne. Joseph Kuipers returns with two acclaimed musicians from the Dallas Symphony, Nathan Olsen and Lydia Umlauf. The trio will meld a contrast of music from Bach to O’Conner - music composed centuries apart with dramatically different backdrops.

• Hill Country Newcomers Club meets 10 a.m.-noon in the Family Life Center of St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Bandera Road. HCNC is a non-profit organization that invites women to make new friends and learn new things through fun interactive social activities. • Ribbon-cutting for The Benedictine Sisters’Attic Thrift Store, 9:30 a.m. The Sisters’ Attic Thrift Store offers a variety of gently used clothing, furniture, housewares, books, specialty items, and household collectibles at reasonable prices.

• The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. in its boardroom for The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, 121 S. Main St., to celebrate the organization’s grantees.

OCTOBER 12

• Through October 14, come out to the Kendall County Fairground between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Just Between Friends Children’s and Maternity Consignment Sale event. Explore this pop-up bi-annual consignment sale for all things maternity, baby, and kids all the way through juniors. $5 per ticket.

• The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Flippin’ Hair, 103 E. Kronkosky St., to mark the salon’s opening.

• Kendall County Republican Club meets at 6 p.m. at the Nelson City Dance Hall, with Christine Welborn, executive director of Advancing Integrity, as guest speaker. Doors open at 5:45 p.m., and social time with cash bar is 5:45-6:15 p.m. Cost is $30 per person, which includes full dinner and the program. Registration closed Sept. 28.

OCTOBER 13

• Chamber Closed: The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will be closed for the Solar Eclipse.

• Annular Solar Eclipse Event, at Cave Without A Name. A two-day camping event will highlight the Annular Eclipse. Arrive on Friday to set up your RV or campsite, to be ready for nature’s big event on Saturday morning. Music in the pavilion, “Into the Light,”will follow the eclipse. Call 830537-4212 for reservations.

• Dark Star Party RV Weekend at Kinematic Brewing Company, 50140 I-10 frontage road in Comfort. Vendor market, live music, food, beer releases, astronomy professionals, a Friday night Star Party and more. On-site security will be provided. They are ready to welcome RV’ers from all over who want to enjoy the eclipse in a fun and unique way.

OCTOBER 14

• Partial Solar Eclipse in Boerne, 10:20 a.m. to 1:35 p.m. The partial eclipse will begin at about 10:20 a.m., with four minutes of annularity beginning at 11:51 a.m., when the moon lines up directly in front of the sun. During annularity, the sun will appear as a “ring of fire”around the moon.

• An “Eclipse in the Park” fundraiser for the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department is being hosted by Friends of the CVFD to raise funds for the purchase of a new firefighting vehicle. Live music, food and beverage for purchase, bouncy house for children, and FREE Eclipse glasses. Family-friendly NASA-sponsored activities will take place at the Comfort Public Library. The event is co-sponsored by the Comfort Chamber of Commerce.

• Hill Country Mile Rod Run, Main Plaza, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join a family- friendly day of cars, bikes, live music, craft beer, food and vendors. They will be taking over downtown Boerne to celebrate American classic cars and motorcycles. There will be multiple locations throughout downtown with live music and food.

• Texas Eclipse Ring of Fire Run, Kendall County Fairgrounds. Race options include anything from a 0.5 mile to a 13.1-mile run. Start times: 13.1-mile, 7:30 a.m.; 10k, 8:15 a.m.; 5k, 8:30 a.m. All races include an afterparty, complete with eclipse glasses. Register at www.scallywompus.com.

• Eclipse party at Dog and Pony Grill. Open at 9 a.m. with DJ GrossYall spinning all the cosmic spacey jams from 9 a.m. to noon. Will be serving a sunny-side-up breakfast sandwich on a pitch-black bun, made just for their restaurant from Extra Fine, as well as Ring Of Fire wings. Soul Twang will finish the night on the big stage from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

• Boerne Eclipse Market from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Alene’s Boutique, at 1491 S. Main St. in Boerne. This outdoor event features local vendors, raffles, baked goods, telescope photo opportunities, and more. Eclipse viewing glasses available for purchase.

• Grey Forest Open Studios Art Show/ Sale, from noon to 6 p.m. at 18922 Hillside Drive, Helotes, to celebrate their 28th anniversary. The free is open to the public. Patrons can enjoy a festive friendly atmosphere seeing where resident/visiting artists live and work amid the creeks, woods, and old Sunday houses.

• Boerne Sunrise Rotary Club Eclipse BBQ and Charity Raffle from noon to 6 p.m. at Tusculum Brewing Company, 236 S. Main St. This event will benefit local veterans and ROTC, scholarships, and Boerne charities. $20 for barbecue/ raffle combined ticket; $10 raffle-only tickets available.

• Spotlight Artists Reception, Gallery 195 of Boerne, 4-7 p.m. Local artists Amy Hillenbrand and Riki Yarbrough will be featured in “Wonder & Story.” Enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres as you mingle with the artists and view their work.

• Total Eclipse in the Dark Flashlight Tour, 5:30-7 p.m. at Cascade Caverns, 226 Cascade Cavern, Boerne. This notso- scary flashlight tour is 90 minutes long, accompanied by your tour guide and a handy flashlight being the only light source provided. Reservations: www. cascadecaverns.com • Eclipse in the Cave, by Rudi & the Rudiments, at Cave Without A Name, from 7-9 p.m. After experiencing the annular solar eclipse, enjoy an evening with Rudi & the Rudiments as they perform “Eclipse in the Cave” -- an entertaining concert of songs focused on the dynamic interplay of light and shadow. • San Antonio Liver Symposium, Hilton San Antonio Hill Country. Attend to learn about innovative insights and advances in liver cancer research and treatment.

OCTOBER 21

• Boerne Area Model Society annual Fall Fun Fly, Joshua Springs Park and Natural Area. The event will have radio-controlled aircraft and pilots from the Boerne, San Antonio, Kerrville and the surrounding area flying the aircraft, small to large, propdriven planes to EDF (electric ducted fan), jets, and helicopters. A raffle and silent auction are planned. This is an AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) sanctioned event.

OCTOBER 28

• St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church Fall Fest, 9 a.m. to noon. Games, food, and raffle items. Trunk Or Treat, which will feature a visit from Boerne Police Department and Boerne Fire Department, is set for 11 a.m.

• The Kendall County Historical Commission at 10 a.m. will dedicate a Texas Historical Commission marker for the Wren Cemetery, 50 Spring Creek Road.
