Boerne ISD scores high marks in finance rating
The Boerne Independent School District received a Superior Rating with an overall score of 96 in the 2022-23 Texas Education Agency Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
The “superior achievement” rating is the state’s highest, in reference to the quality of Boerne ISD’s financial management and reporting system.
This is the 12th straight year Boerne ISD has achieved the superior rating.
“We are extremely proud to once again receive the state’s highest fiscal accountability rating,” said Dr. Thomas Price, Boerne ISD superintendent. “We work hard to ensure that we do our due diligence as it relates to taxpayer money and are very careful with how we spend that money.”
The rating is based on an analysis of the district’s financial data for the fiscal year 2022.
The FIRST ratings are calculated using 20 financial indicators, such as administrative cost expenditures; the accuracy of a district’s financial information submitted to TEA; and any financial vulnerabilities or material weaknesses in internal controls as determined by an external auditor.
“Our goal is always to always focus on student success while being both fiscally responsible and fiscally transparent with our community,” Price said. “Our Chief Financial Officer Wes Scott does an outstanding job in leading our district from the financial side, and our board of trustees sets a great example of what it means to be fiscally responsible.”
