Boerne falls to Fred to close out district
In a match that had no bearing on Boerne High’s playoff status, the Greyhound volleyball played its final regular season match Tuesday in Fredericksburg.
Boerne won the first set 25-20, but the Battlin’ Billies took the next three to win the match, 25-23, 26-24, 25-23.
The Lady Greyhounds ended the regular season at 5-7 in district and 21-19 overall and will be the fourth-place team in 27-4A. Davenport, Wimberley and Navarro took the top three spots in the district.
Boerne is scheduled to play the top seed from District 28-4A, which will either be Cuero or La Vernia. Those two teams are tied at 9-1 in district and split their two matches during league play.
They were playing Friday to determine seeding. The winner of that match gets the No. 1 seed and plays Boerne and the loser takes the No 2 seed from that district.
Adyson Hudson dropped in 6 aces and tallied 29 digs, Ava Rocchio finished with 15 kills and 3 blocks, Aubree Stegall added 9 kills and 1.5 blocks, Paige Stegall came up with 8 kills and 5 blocks, Calynn Ramos added 27 assists and 14 digs, Kinsley Sawyer recorded 13 digs, while Haley Wheeler and Holly Reeder both chipped in with 8 digs.
