Boerne boys, Davis on girls side qualify for state
Boerne High qualified its boys team and its lone individual girl runner to this year’s 4A state cross country meet after their performances at the Region IV-4A meet held in Corpus Christi this past Tuesday.
The Boerne boys finished second as a team and had a top 10 individual finisher while Eleanor Davis also placed in the top 10 individually to punch her ticket to the girls 4A state meet.
This year’s 4A state meet will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, in Round Rock at Old Settler’s Park. Davis runs at 11:40 a.m. and the boys race at 12:10 p.m.
Varsity Boys
The boys from Boerne tallied 83 points to take second behind region winner La Feria who took the top three individual spots on its way to first place with 40 points. Alice was third at 141 and Floresville came in fourth with 173 to advance to state.
Carsten Bain paced the BHS boys and was 7th in adjusted scoring with a time of 17:15.23, Aaron Garcia was 14th in 17:41.92, Jackson Temple placed 19th in 18:06.23, Barrett Crofut was one spot back in 20th with a time of 18:10.48, Taylor Farar posted an 18:14.29 for 23rd, Caleb Benchoff completed the course in 18:30.93 for 29th and Ethan Christianson ran a 19:26.57 for 59th to round out the team.

Eleanor Davis was the lone representative for the Boerne girls team and the junior posted a time of 12:36.95 in the 3200-meter 4A girls race to qualify for state.
The top 10 individual runners not on an advancing team make it state to compete for a chance at an individual title.
Davis was third among the individual qualifiers and 15th overall in the race.
District foes Fredericksburg (37) and Davenport (118) went 1-2 in the region on the girls side, while Needville (121) and La Feria (126) were third and fourth to all make a date for state.
